The Growatt SPF 5000 ES inverter is the optimal choice for so-called island systems without an available distribution network - a generator and/or battery can be connected to the unit as a backup energy source. This is a hybrid inverter with a sine wave output ideal for home and small commercial systems. The built-in MPPT controller can handle up to 6 kW of PV arrays with a maximum open circuit voltage of 450Voc. It can work with both lead-acid and Li-ion batteries. Of course, there are RJ45 ports for CAN/RS485 communication with the BMS of LiFePO4 modular batteries of brands such as Pylontech, WECO, Seplos, etc.

The inverter can also be operated without a battery, provided that it is actively connected to the distribution network. In SUB operating mode, the inverter monitors the load power and the power of the available photovoltaic source, and any missing energy is supplemented from the distribution network. The device allows for bypass settings, which in the event of a battery or PV array disconnection will connect the inverter output to the distribution network within 10ms to prevent power interruption. It also supports UPS mode with a switchover to battery-only operation in 10ms.

By connecting inverters in parallel, a total system power of up to 30kW can be achieved. The inverter can be fitted with a WiFi/LAN communication module for remote control and monitoring.

When operating the inverter in Solar Priority mode and when operating without a battery, the inverter behaves as a so-called "hybrid", there is a possibility of electrical energy overflows into the distribution network. To eliminate these overflows, use the SBU Battery Priority mode, where when the battery lacks energy, it switches to bypass.
